Oh yeah, we're official.

Hi everyone! thanks again for checking out the blog! We have some great news, the book is officially...a book! Our glorious advisor Hunter Darden has helped us secure a Library of Congress number. For all of you non-authors (which was us, not too long ago) that means that we can officially have Walking with Grace published!

Also, after many meetings and two sleepovers, we have finished our manuscript! We are meeting again soon to finalize it within our troop and to write some additional information. Our fabulous illustrator, Addie McElwee will also give us an update on her progress with the drawings! We hope to send the book in for publishing some time in June, more definite dates will be released as soon as possible.

Also, thank you for visiting this site! The support has been amazing and we are so excited so many have visited. An easy way to stay updated is by becoming a follower, and which notifies you whenever a new post is up. Troop members will also be posting facebook status' whenever we have a new post up! If you have any questions about the book you can leave a comment here and we will answer it as soon as we can! Thanks again for the support and spread the word!

Walking with Grace; the journey.

Hello! Thank you first of all, for taking the time and appreciation to look at our newly-formed blog. As we work on our Girl Scout Gold Award project we hope to keep everyone updated, whether we are simply brainstorming ideas or submitting our book,Walking with Grace, for publishing, our troop wants everyone to feel like a part of the process. Here is some background information about our project...

Walking with Grace was inspired by our dear friend and fellow girl scout Abigail Grace Tsumas, known to us as Abbey. Abbey passed away on October 31st, 2009 in a car accident and though she isn't with us now she is a constant inspiration to us in our day-to-day lives. There simply isn't a way to describe Abbey, she had a smile that could light up a room and a passion for life that could make anyone jealous. Abbey was the kind of friend who lifted you up when you were down and made you laugh until you cried.

As a memorial to our dear friend and fellow scout, our troop is writing and publishing a childrens book entitled Walking with Grace. The story of Walking with Grace is one of everlasting friendship, in which a girl has an influence over everyone she met, whether she knows them for 5 years or 5 minutes. Our vision for the book is that it captures the essence of Abbey's life and helps not only children but also adults realize the impact they can have on others.

All of the proceeds from the book will go to the Grace for Pets foundation, a foundation created in Abbey's memory. Inspired by Abbey's love of animals, especially dogs, the foundation raises money to help animals in need.

As we work on our project we want to keep everyone updated. We will post entries on this blog to let you know how the book is going and any events that might be coming up! So keep checking up on the blog and keep a look out for Walking with Grace!
